Wildflower
Wildflower captivates the viewer with its animated smattering of colorful flora offset against varying tones of grass greens. The scale and vantage point give the viewer a bird’s -eye view. One gets the sense of hovering above a meadow.
Comprised of acrylic flowers of various shapes and genus, the predominant palette of pinks and reds is interspersed with all colors of the spectrum. There is a sense of motion conveyed through the composition as well as the technique used to create the flowers. The numerous gel layers create a translucency and quality of light. They drift in and out of focus to the foreground and background providing lushness and depth.
The addition of oil paint adds texture and richness melted into the warmth of the Belgian linen surface. The overall feeling is of being in a field on a lazy summer’s day.
